Gene Dodaro leads the U.S. Government Accountability Office. Part of his job is to provide policymakers with foresight about emerging challenges. Dodaro says he’s been raising a red flag about cyber security. “There’s a recurring pattern of certain major weaknesses across the federal government,” he says. “There are not comprehensive security programs in place…security patches aren’t made in a timely manner in a number of cases. So there’s a fundamental — has been for the last number of years – lack of attention to computer security systems.” He spoke with Sanford’s dean Kelly Brownell.
